On 7 April 2020, the Malaysia Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Association (MACRA) donated 40 units of 1.0HP portable air-conditioners and 16 units of air-coolers to assist Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) in its continuous efforts to fight Covid-19. The units were received by Datuk Dr Heric Corray, Director of HKL. This comprises only the first batch of air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation (ACMV) equipment to be donated to HKL.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) had made a wish-list of more than 500 items required for 48 hospitals across all states consisting of air-conditioning units, portable air-conditioning units, air-coolers, air purifiers, industrial fans and exhaust fans.
To help fulfil the wish list, MACRA has formed a task force of council committee members that include its regional members in Sabah and Sarawak. MACRA is in the midst of arranging additional batches of equipment to be dispatched to other hospitals in Malaysia.
MACRA promotes the interests of the ACMV & R industry in Malaysia, as well as encouraging and preserving the skills and means of the industry. The association is also involved in elevating standards of ACMV & R and its ancillary activities aside from increasing public confidence in the industry across Malaysia as well as surrounding regions.
Mr Leong Hoong Fook, the managing director of ETS Bio Freeze Sdn Bhd is also a committee member of MACRA and participated in this donation drive.
